SACOETEC Provost Receives Courtesy Call from Schoolmates

On Friday February 14, 2025, the Provost of Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose, Dr. Modupe Ayodele Oba-Adenuga, received her former classmates of 85/88 Ogun State College of Education (OSCE now Sikiru Adetona College of Education Science and Technology Omu-Ajose) and University of Ilorin 1993.

They came to support her assignment as Provost of the College. It was a fascinating session of reminiscences, laughter and prayers. They reminded themselves of incidents and people they had been with and even forgotten. One of the reminiscences was the College bus nicknamed “dendenbula”. Mrs Olu-James recalled how she fell off the bus on Ondo Road, during her days in the college.

They gave assurances that they will be available to support her.

The leader of the contingent, Mrs Jokotade Agbatiogun said they were impressed with the Provost, assuring her they would not stop supporting her. She explained that they were representing a large number of people who constitute the old students of the College.

The Provost explained to her guests how the College had fared amid dibilitating challenges. She said the Governing Council is working day and night to better the lot of the College. She expressed her gratitude to the staff of the College who have continued to persevere and work very hard despite not receiving their appropriate dues. She asked everyone to support her with prayers for wisdom and health. She prayed for her guests that they would reap their good rewards and be in excellent health.

Gifts were given to the Provost for which she expressed her deep gratitude. She prayed for safety for them as they travelled home.

The guests were shown round the facilities in the College including the clinic, lecture halls, Tai Solarin College Library and the Counselling Unit, which was of particular interest.

The guests thanked the Provost for welcoming them. They were also happy because some of them had not seen each other for up to twenty years. This was opportunity for them to see each other again. They assured that this was the beginning of something that will endure.

In her closing remarks, the Provost invited her guests to take one walkway in the ongoing paving of walkways in the College and bear the cost of paving it. It would then be named UNILORIN 93 Walkway or OSCE 85/88 Walkway.

The Deputy Provost, Mr. Wale Adekoya, the Registrar, Mrs Bukola Makinde and the Bursar, Mr. Gbenga Olusanya were also at the event. The event was rounded off with music and dance as the Provost and her friends rolled back the years and became like undergraduates once again.
