SACOETEC Appreciates Obas of Host Communities with Awards of Honour

On Wednesday February 5, 2025, Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology Omu-Ajose honoured the Obas of some of the host communities of the College.

In a well-attended event which initially featured a meeting of the Town and Gown, the honour was bestowed on the royal fathers to the admiration of all.

The Governing Council, led by Prince Adewole Sowole, and the Management led by the Provost, Dr Modupe Ayodele Oba-Adenuga presented the awards on behalf of the College community to appreciate the royal fathers for their support for the College and their undying interest in the well-being of SACOETEC students.

The Obas were all physically present to receive their awards and all attended the preceding Town and Gown meeting.

The awards were presented at the end of the Town and Gown meeting which featured representatives of all eight towns and communities that make up the College hosts. The meeting created opportunity for various matters of interest between the hosts and the College to be raised and addressed for the mutual interests of the College and her hosts. The host communities are Jobore, Irete, Omu, Erebe, Ikise, Oke-Orundun, Igbile and Ibido in no particular order.

The awardees are:

HRH Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Olusegun Yesufu, Kutimehin 1, the Onirete of Irete Land

HRH Oba Sunday Olufemi Ogunbanjo, the Kobowore of Jobore Land

HRH Oba Abdulsalami Kolawole, the Jaun of Igbile Land

HRH Oba Mobolaji Oludaisi Mosuro, Ramuja III, the Olomu of Omu

Engr (Dr) Olusegun Abayomi Lawal, the Baale of Erebe Land headlines the discussions for the day, although he had to leave early for a prior engagement.

Also present were High Chief M.A Majowogbe, the Baale of Ibido and High Chief Olusegun Osanyintola, the Baale of Ikise.

Representatives of prominent families of were also at the interaction. Alhaji Sikirullai Ogunlana (popular among SACOETEC students as Bros Dee) represented the Ogunlana Family and Chief Ọpẹ́yẹmí Ifederu represented the Ifederu Family (who previously donated a classroom block to the College in honour of their mother)

The Provost thanked the entire host communities for their unflinching support for the College and asked that does not waver. She was supported at the event by the College Registrar, Mrs Bukola Makinde and the College Bursar Mr Gbenga Olusanya.

The Council Chairman also thanked the royal fathers and the other members of the communities and assured them that together, goals would be achieved. He was flanked by Maj. Gen. Bamidele M. Shafa (Rtd) and Rev. Bola Oyeledun, both members of the Governing Council.
