Glittering Christmas Carol at SACOETEC

It was a beautiful Christmas Carol Event on Monday December 16, 2024 to bring the year 2024 to a close at Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose, Ogun State.

It had been a very huge year in the College and the change of baton had just been concluded ushering in a new era with a new Provost, Dr. Modupe Oba-Adenuga. Then came Christmas and it was time to celebrate.

Beyond the regular features that would feature in a Christmas Carol, the audience was in for series of surprises.

First, the student choir who had shaved off time from their busy lecture schedule to rehearse thrilled everyone, treating the audience to one masterpiece after another.

Next, there was a huge cheer when it was announced that the Provost would be singing a solo piece. She came on and sang to the shocked surprise of everyone. No one ever thought she could raise a voice that good.

Then came the Director of Quality Assurance, Dr. Anuoluwa Adesanya. She was not just a singer. She left no one in doubt that she is an accomplished musician with a band of her own. She delivered an inspiring performance and drew a huge applause.

Next came Mrs Tanimowo of Biology Department, followed by Mr. Toluwalomo Adebayo of Human Kinetics Department. It was like everyone had a career in music with Mr. Adeleye of CRS Department conducting the choir, Mr Yomi Osinaike the maestro on the keyboard, Ms Grace Onoja of College Bursary leading praises and Ms Odeyemi of French Department complementing. It was wonderful from start to finish.

In attendance were members of the College Management, teaching and non-teaching staff, guests and students: Registrar Mrs Bukola Makinde who could not stop dancing, the Bursar Mr. Gbenga Olusanya and very prominently the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Lukman Olusesi who is always sure to take fantastic photos.

Very special colour was added to the event by the presence of Professor Adeleke Oba-Adenuga of the National Open University of Nigeria, and husband of the Provost. He was not just the guest to sit and watch. He out-danced the hosts of the event, singing, gyrating and clearly enjoying the event.

It was a glittering Christmas and there was no doubt that it was time beautifully spent.
